October Update

Happy Autumn!

First things first.  Thanks to ALL of you for your prayers and love for our family in this new season of going from three to four Havelaar's. :)

Sonya Marie is six weeks--already!  She has--and continues to be--such a blessing to all of our lives.  It's amazing to see the dynamic of how much Jude loves his baby ("bebe" in Jude-lingo) sister.  One of our prayers for them is that they would grow up together as great friends.

We recently had the kids dedicated to the Lord.  One of the things that was prayed for them is that they would grow up loving Jesus.

Since our last update, we had some "honored" guests <enter wink> join us.  Both of our moms came to visit us!  It was GREAT to have them here... to see the joy the grandkids brought, and to have the extra pair(s) of hands.  I'm pretty sure Jude made out in it all. :)

We are enjoying this season with the kiddos... it's a lot of work at times, but we wouldn't trade it for anything.  They are such precious gifts.

Bible College

This semester, I've (Shaun) been teaching a class through the book of Genesis.  There have been many things that have stood out to me in studying/teaching/discussing the text, but one resounding theme comes from Genesis 15, verse 1b:

"Do not be afraid...  I am your shield, your exceedingly great reward."

I'm reminded time-and-time again that our protection and provision goes beyond our hands and our resources.  Our protection and provision is found in Jesus.  It sounds simple.  Yet, a vast majority of other things compete for this place that I'm reminded--again--belongs to Him.  Appropriate for any season... but especially in this season.  We're loving the students, and what we've had the opportunity to see in their lives.

Beginning October 19th through the 28th, students will be on various outreach teams.  They are serving, encouraging, supporting, and sharing in various countries, cities, ministries, and local churches. Please join us in praying for them this week.  Pray He would enable and use them to share His love and truth with everyone they meet, and that people they are serving would be built-up in Jesus!

Transition

As most of you know this is our last semester serving at CCBCE in Hungary. (See our previous post for further details on our plans).  We look forward to the next step towards what He has for our family in Ethiopia.

We recently bought our plane tickets to the States, and will be leaving Hungary on December 14th.  Our family will be attending this year's Calvary Chapel Missions Conference in Murrieta, California.   We are looking forward to seeing friends and connecting with other missionaries from around the globe.  During our visit, we hope to see as many of you as we can.

  • Please pray that we remain.  Remain at the place of trusting in our "Shield and exceedingly great Reward" for EVERYTHING.
  • Please pray God would give us wisdom as parents.
  • Please continue to pray for the transition, and the "practicals" (paperwork, packing, training, etc.).
  • Please continue to pray for the students... that they would continue to bear fruit... that burdens would be surrendered... and lives would be changed... for Jesus.
  • Please pray for the Ayele family, and the kiddos at Ebenezer Grace Children's Home.

Thanks for the LOVE.

All the best in Jesus,
Shaun, Megan, Jude, and Sonya
